From the Road

The roads of the American west transit an incredible variety of contrasting landscapes: snow and desert, cities and ghost towns, disconsolately parched valleys and thick mountain forests, and everywhere new environments emerging before our eyes.

This gallery includes travel photographs from Arizona and California. These were recorded in a variety of media including digital and medium and large format film. Most were taken beside or within a few steps of a highway.

Traditional black & white silver and lightjet colour prints are available in a variety of sizes.

Invisible Light

Black and white photography with invisible infrared and ultraviolet light gives us an alternate view, in which tonal relationships can be strikingly different from what we see with our eyes.

This gallery includes several exploratory IR and UV images from the past two years. These exposures are fairly long, ranging from 1 to 30 seconds, thus motion is introduced in several of the frames. All were recorded on medium and large format film. These photographs are currently available in toned silver gelatin on fiber and lightjet.

Closer to Home

These are photographs from my region of central and northern Virginia, central Kentucky, and the Washington DC area. The subjects include local landmarks and architecture, landscapes, and the familiar blossoms of the region.

A variety of media were used for these photographs, including print, slide and instant film. The photographs are currently available in traditional silver gelatin and lightjet. I am currently experimenting with platinum and palladium prints of the blossoms and these should be available in 2008.
